The amazing digital innovations that have revolutionized the photographic arts in recent years have only served to heighten Dan's passion for the art form. Modern digital photography, along with use of the basic principals of color, composition and design afford today’s photographers endless artistic expression. Each individual photograph is part of a process, the result of experimentation, persistence, research, accident and luck.
Dan has traveled extensively scouting locations in Colonial Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Spain, and France, as well as the California Missions and Southern Arizona's barrios in search of unique settings for his photography. Dan’s inspiration and subject matter reflect his interest in history as well as his fascination with the architecture and craftsmanship of the past. “Individuals can look at the same subject matter, yet each person’s experience is unique and their own. Hopefully, through my eyes and camera lens, my images will allow people to experience the beauty of other places and other times.” The end result of Dan's adventures is a varied and eclectic collection of images. In 2002 Dan founded FotoVentures and the following year he began to actively pursue showing and marketing his work. In March 2008 Dan moved to Greece; he is very excited about the expanded opportunities to photograph other regions of the world, new and old.
Dan is active in community service and donates signed & numbered limited edition prints to charitable causes including the Angel Charity for Children and Juvenile Diabetes Association.
Dan Chavez and FotoVentures wish to extend a special note of thanks to Fauxtography Printing, Jones Photo and Printwell whose technical guidance, support and patience have been invaluable. And, “to my wife and compass, whose support and critical eye help to guide me.”
