The Artist Easel Program at the U.S. Embassy in Athens, Greece featured Mexican-American photographer Daniel Chavez’s exhibition entitled "Missions and Madonna’s-Mexico’s Colonial Period" in the Consular Section’s exhibition gallery January through March 2009. The exhibit featured the California missions built by Father Junipero Serra during the height Mexico’s Colonial period in the late 1700’s and early 1800’s. Also included in the exhibit were images of La Virgin de Guadalupe, Mexico’s patron Saint, as well as florals from the Missions’ gardens.
